Who We Are & Our Objectives
Sweet Sensations (SIO₂) is a South African silica sand mining operation focused on the responsible extraction, processing, and supply of high-quality silica sand for industrial, construction, and manufacturing applications. In doing so we have created numerous full-time employment opportunities for individuals within the Free State area.
Silica sand has nationally been in short supply, whilst being a key mineral for the country's growth and earmarked for further youth development. Our goal has been to create sustainable jobs for unskilled labourers in Gauteng and the Free State.
Sakhu Indhlu Development and Construction (Pty) Ltd, Reg No: 2006/002601/07 owns the land known as
remainder 0 of De Pont 228, in extent 101,28 hectares, located in the Free State.
Sweet Sensations Vaal Sand (Pty) Ltd, Reg No: 2007/002195/07 hold the mining rights.
Our Journey
2007
We received our prospecting permit authorised by the DMR.
We proceeded with site evaluation for silica sand quantity and quality.
2016
Mining rights were granted for 85 hectares to be mined.
2017
We received site clearance for the establishment of a secured compound and working area.
In October, mining operations commenced with clearance of overburden for sand delivery.
2018 onwards
Customers have since received consistent, high-quality silica sand.
